17) What the ‘Management’ is required to do

‘Management’ doesn’t mean to control or command.

Generally, the word ‘management’ might recall the image associated to ‘control’ such as;
Management = To command people to have them in full control.
But that’s not quite right.

‘Management’ starts with ‘visualizing’
1.    Set core process.
2.    Seek appropriate human resources, facilities and working methods.
3.    Educate human resources to hand working methods down and take them hold in.
4.    Supervise working process and provide supports.
5.    Identify issues.
6.    Pinpoint issues and develop preventive measures.
7.    Improve procedure No. 2 and retry.
8.    Offer reeducation.

Among these procedures, No. 1 to 3 are essential requirements when you start management system, followed by No. 4 to 8 repeating time and time again.
This is the ideal PDCA cycle.

However, the reality is, the essential No.1 to 3 are not conducted appropriately because core process is taken easily and set without consideration, which led to dysfunctional management system.

No matter how many directors and managements there are, if they have no responsibilities at all, they cannot find out truly necessary ‘core process’.
Those irresponsible people’s ideas are just disturbing collaboration at work.

That is the reason why ‘Management’ means support, not control.

More specific and hands-on side ideas will be introduced next time.
